This course is designed to meet the requirements of the STCW Regulations 1978 and amendments of the 2010 and is in accordance with IMO Model Course 1.27.
The course is intended for masters, deck officers and other members of the deck crew on the navigating bridge on board ships equipped with ECDIS system. This course primarily involves knowing the basics of working with ECDIS system, the functions of ECDIS, proper handling of ECDIS and describes the importance of ECDIS in everyday navigation. Installing ECDIS system on board is compulsory from January 1st 2017 when the paper chart will no longer be in use.
Upon successful completion of the course the participants will be able to demonstrate and apply the knowledge and skills acquired in the field of ECDIS, and will be able to completely understand the electronic navigation and electronic charts in order to take over the duty of the watch-keeping officer on the bridge, according to STCW Convention.
The acquired knowledge and skills should include minimum requirements for ECDIS competencies listed in Column 1 of the Table A-II of the STCW Code of 1978 and amendments from 2010 as shown in Appendix 3.
This course is intended for all deck officers engaged in watch-keeping on the bridge as well as young people (cadets) who intend to take the officer's exam.
The course is approved by the Croatian government, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure. The trainee who successfully completes the course will receive a certificate of participation by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure as well as a certificate of the approved Training Center.
